Founder, International Institute for Bau-biologie™& Ecology, Inc

The International Institute for Bau-biologie™ and Ecology's (IBE) Founder and Past-President is Helmut Ziehe, an architect who received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the Technical University of Berlin in 1964, and a post graduate degree in Tropical Architecture at the AA School of Architecture in London. He has worked and lived in a number of European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Greece, and Great Britain, as well as in Central America and North Africa, before making his home in Clearwater, Florida.

His professional experience, gained both as an employee and as the owner of his own architectural firm, includes the planning of hospitals, hotels, and housing units for small communities, as well as small scale industrial developments. He has been involved with Bau-biologie since 1980, first as a student of Professor Anton Schneider in Germany, and later as the translator of the course into English, and founder of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and Ecology in England in 1984 and in the U.S.A. in 1987.

The International Institute for Bau-biologie™ and Ecology, Inc. (IBE), established in Clearwater, Florida in 1987, is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to bringing together the technical expertise, biological understanding and ecological sensitivity to create healthy homes and workplaces.

IBE's main objective is to educate - specifically, to help people realize that homes and workplaces can be created to bring the benefits of both health and aesthetics into their living environments. Bringing awareness to the health hazards that may exist in our living spaces not only improves health and provides a sense of well being, it also has an impact on the survival of this planet.

Since inception, IBE has provided outreach to over 12,000 individuals and instruction through correspondence courses and seminars to almost 2,000. Lectures and seminars have been conducted throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India and Colombia. IBE has affiliates at The Brazilian Institute for Bau-biologie, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Vedu Vastu and Research Foundation, India.
