Advances in the use of Feng Shui in Medical Facilities

Feng shui has been playing an increasingly important role in helping define new approaches to design for health care facilities. Feng shui consultants have been hired to help design hospitals and clinics that are not only green and sustainable, but which also include traditional feng shui site planning and interior design criteria.
In addition, geomancy techniques from other traditions have also been added by some practitioners. These include dowsing, electromagnetic assessments, global magnetic grid analysis, geopathic stress diagnosis, space clearing, and earth healing rituals. This combination of approaches has greatly expanded the ability of feng shui consultants to make an imprint on the design process in the health care field. It has also resulted in increased demand for competent and well-trained practitioners.
This workshop will illustrate some recent examples of this trend, with special emphasis on landmark hospitals around the country. Case studies will include the first LEED certified health care facility in the USA, as well as several Gold LEED and CHCD Pebble projects. Taken together, these projects represent the forefront of holistic design in the health care field.
