Applying "Compass Feng Shui" Design Principles
to Create Dynamic, Eye-catching Floor Plans

Presented by
Yasha Jampolsky

International Feng Shui Expert and Designer Yasha Jampolsky will reveal how Compass Feng Shui works and share user friendly and practical ways to incorporate these methods into any consultation or design project. Eight Mansions and Flying Stars, the two most popular compass techniques used by Western Practitioners, will be discussed as well as their adaptability to modern design, re-design, architectural and construction projects.

Compass Feng Shui, offers powerful methods for understanding the flow of energy. With that understanding we are able to live more productive and abundant lives. As a designer's tool it can maximize the potential of any space. Methods seeking the same ends have been noted to exist in many cultures. The general term used for these practices is Geomancy.

The practice of Compass Feng Shui evolved over thousands of years in Northern China and has spread in various forms to influence all of Eastern Asia and eventually the rest of the world. In its earliest form it began as an observation of landforms in order to determine the most beneficial location for inhabited structures and burial sites. In time, the benefits of directional orientation were discovered. At first, directional Feng Shui methods were practiced using an astrolabe to read the heavens and positions of the stars. Some early practitioners used a sun dial since the correct points of reference coincided with proper solar orientation. The magnetic needle compass came later. Although it was primarily used for navigation purposes, the magnetic compass became the method of choice for many Feng Shui Practitioners. The Feng Shui Compass is known in China as the Lopan.

Over the centuries, designers, architects and practitioners of all kinds have used Geomancy to create structures of incredible beauty also having energizing or healing properties. Properly oriented structures were said to enhance the good fortune and well being of its inhabitants.

These practices are evident in :

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Architecture of European Civilizations
Shamanic Wisdom of the Pyramid Texts of Ancient Egypt
Mayan Oracles of Central and South Americas
Earth Teachings of the Oglala Sioux of North America
Archeological references of almost every culture currently known.

These practices offer a sense of order in design that optimizes the dynamic potential of any space. They provide alignment with energies that are often not seen but can be tangibly experienced and can have a profound influence on us all.
Participants of this lecture will gain an understanding of how the Compass methods
"Eight Mansions" and "Flying Stars" can be used to enhance design and building projects as well as assure their success. They will also gain perspective on how these methods embody Principles of Geomancy as they have been used globally through the ages.
